These players continue to step up their efforts and have stats to back up such a claim. They have left a mark on the 2020 GA State High School Footballs playoffs, as their respective teams are playing in the Elite 8, while the season has ended for others.
2022 – C.J. Washington, LB/RB, Cedartown
Collected 20 sacks as a 10th grader. At six-feet-two-inches and 220 pounds he is electric off the edge and is the definition of a physical football player. The University of Georgia commit benches 340 pounds, power cleans 330 pounds, and squats 515 pounds. News flash, these are all from his sophomore year of high school. In the Elite 8 GA AAAA State Playoffs, the Jr. LB/RB had 109 yards to 17 carries and was instrumental in setting up the Cedartown Bulldogs lone touchdown of the night.
2022 – Thomas Castellanos Thomas Castellanos 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB Ware County | 2022 State GA , QB, Ware County
Thomas has thrown for 2,622 yards and is also dangerous on the ground. He accounted for 43 of his team’s 50 touchdowns during the regular season and playoffs. He gets most of the attention in every game and as he goes his teams go.
2021 – Jayden Johnson, Safety, Cedartown
Johnson has a very diverse stat line which is a reflection of the versatility he brings to the field. For the 2020 season he has carried for 360 rushing yards boasting a 7.2 yards per carry average. Johnson also has 352 receiving yards, 8 touchdowns, 23 tackles, and 3 interceptions. a 23 yard pass completion During his last GA AAAA State Playoff game he connected for a 23 yard pass completion. Even with his nice flashes on offense, it has been his impact play on the defensive side that has earned him the opportunity to play at the University of Arkansas where he recently committed.
2021 – Quante Jennings, RB, Cartersville
109 rushing yards on 20 attempts, a 16 yard touchdown and two touchdowns inside the 5 yard line. Needless to say, when Jennings is on his game (and the Cartersville line is performing well) he can put together some truly impressive performances. The team is stacked with talent and Jennings is one of the key players that have led Cartersville to the final four teams in GA AAAAA State Football Playoffs.
2021 – Gavin Geros, LB, Cartersville
He recovered a fumble that led to Cartersville’s game tying Touchdown late in the first half. He also tipped a pass that led to an interception to open the 2nd half. Overall Geros wound up with six tackles (five solo) and two tackles for loss. His leadership in the middle of the field has been top-notch throughout the season.
2021 – Evan Slocum Evan Slocum 5'10" | 175 lbs | DB Cartersville | 2021 State GA , FS, Cartersville
The Wake Forest commit recorded ten tackles from his safety position. This included two takedowns of the opponents quarterback behind the line of scrimmage in the closing minutes. The first, a true sack on third down, helped lead to a turnover on downs. The latter was on a quarterback scramble, a hard hit, that kept the QB off the field for the final play. Effort like this, is what helped lead his team to the final four teams in the GA AAAAA State Football Playoffs.
