Some of these players were able to play a full schedule while others lost games to COVID rules. As a former player and scout, but as a coach and a father, thank you all for battling each and every week.
DL Weston King Weston King 6'3" | 250 lbs | DL Palmyra | 2021 State MO , Palmyra– Central Missouri is getting a fantastic football player in King. From his elite hand usage, leverage and lower body explosion, King gives effort all game long. The Palmyra senior lived up to his preseason Prep Redzone ranking and played like the hay baler he is built like.
DL Hunter Tennison, Ozark– Tennison is also a wrestler and he plays defensive line using the same skill set. Using strong hands, quick hip snap and flexibility, Tennison was a monster his senior season. One of the most intriguing college prospects in the state.
DL Cooper Berry Cooper Berry 6'4" | 235 lbs | OL Warrensburg | 2021 State MO , Warrensburg– Berry has size, is a multisport athlete and is a versatile player on the football field. Used as a tight end, as a blocker and along the defensive line, Berry is just an athlete. If I was a college coach, I would get him onto my campus, stuff him with food and make him a beast in the weight room and then decide if he is a DT or OL. Either way, Berry has a bright future.
DL Rylan Wooldridge, Lamar– A block eater on the inside, Wooldridge consistently gets double teamed and still makes plays. Quick out of his stance and powerful in his movements, Wooldridge was the main reason Lamar won a state championship. Another small school player who will have an interesting recruiting cycle. I know this; he could play for me.
DL Carson Bax, Blair Oaks– Long and lean, Bax gets off the ball with a start and has an explosive first step to win the edge. As a run defender, Bax gains inside hands, sheds quickly and flattens the run down the line of scrimmage to make the play.
LB Steven Ward II, Nixa– Just put on the tape and see why Ward could make a case for the best linebacker in the state. The senior is all over the field, flying sideline to sideline making tackles. Credited with over 150 tackles, there is a good possibility Ward was in on every defensive stop for Nixa. He is going to make Missouri State a better football program.
LB Bryce Norman Bryce Norman 6'0" | 220 lbs | LB Jackson | 2021 State MO , Jackson– As much hype as I gave Ward, Norman might tell me to hold my horses. Jackson also has LB Randol McDowell Randol McDowell 6'0" | 225 lbs | LB Jackson | 2021 State MO (selected as a preseason Prep Redzone LB) but Norman took over as a senior and dominated for the state champions in 2020. Signing with Southeast Missouri State, Norman can cover, hits with force and plays with his hair on fire.
LB Ethan Holzhauser Ethan Holzhauser 6'0" | 210 lbs | LB Helias Catholic | 2021 State MO , Helias Catholic– One of the most prolific tacklers in school history, Holzhauser seemed to always read plays quicker than everyone else and stopped plays in the backfield. The senior was the defensive leader for a state championship team and played like a champion every snap.
LB Jacksyn Miller, Moberly– A legit offensive threat as well, Miller is a college linebacker who has the speed to make plays all over the gridiron. Instinctive and smart, Miller flows quickly, pulls his trigger and hits the ball carrier with snap.
DB Bode Abraham Bode Abraham 6'0" | 165 lbs | DB Buffalo | 2021 State MO , Buffalo– The highly intelligent player was a leader of the back half of his squad. Rangy with excellent ball skills, Abraham also settles his weight well in space to become a very good open field tackler. A preseason and post season all MO defensive selection.
DB Drake Dudley Drake Dudley 5'10" | 180 lbs | DB Hannibal | 2021 State MO , Hannibal– Dudley gets the best compliment I can give a player. Just a football player. The senior always seems to be in the right place at the right time and makes a play when he is there. The Hannibal product is going to make a college program look really good in a few years.
DB DJ Witt DJ Witt 5'7" | 160 lbs | DB Carthage | 2021 State MO , Carthage– I love watching Witt play. As soon as he sniffs out the play, he is a heat seeking projectile on a mission to destroy. He will never get the love he deserves due to his lack of size, but God gave him an acute ability to process and react which more than makes up for his physical stature. Witt deserves a long college look from an out of the box college coach.
DB Riley Childs, Nixa– Childs stepped on the scene his senior year and played like the All Missouri player he now is. Strong on the tackle, Childs seeks out contact and explodes on the hit. Childs tracks the football well in the air and makes plays deep and near the line of scrimmage. The Nixa star went from unranked by me before the season to All Missouri post season. That is how ballers finish!
DB Treghan Parker Treghan Parker 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Webb City | 2021 State MO , Webb City– What a way to end a terrific high school football career. Parker, who is committed to play college baseball, had a wonderful senior football senior for Webb City. Turn on film of Parker’s game versus Ladue and you would select him for this team just off that video. Parker is a supreme athlete and deserving of every accolade he receives.
DB Gavin Wencker, Union– Also a stud running back where he was extolled on this very website in November, Wencker made plays as a hybrid linebacker/defensive back for Union. A knack for finding the football, Wencker gives excellent effort, is tough as a two dollar steak and is a sure tackler. Wencker is a good athlete who should get plenty of college looks in multiple sports.
