The Gators are currently 1-1 in their region, due to their loss against Warner Robins last week, who has had a very successful season in their own right. Because of this, Ware County is 6-1 on the season, and has defeated teams such as Cook, Richmond Hill, Thomson, Bainbridge, Benedictine, and Coffee. The only two games that the Gators have left this season are against Wayne County, and Veterans High, which are both very beatable teams. If they can manage to win out, the team will finish at 8-1.
Offensively, the team has seen a ton of success, mainly due to the high level of efficiency from QB, Thomas Castellanos Thomas Castellanos 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB Ware County | 2022 State GA , who has put up over 1,750 passing yards. This large amount of success in the passing game has provided him state wide attention, as these numbers continue to climb the charts. With this gaudy amount of yards, he has also put up 14 TD passes, with only 4 interceptions. Along with this, he has carried the ball for over 600 yards, and 11 TD’s. Even more impressively, he has managed to do all of this as a Junior. With this, because of his efficiency in the passing game, players such as Raiden Kennedy, and Jerry Wilkins have gotten a chance to shine with the ball in their hands. Both of these players lead the entire team in receiving yards, while Kennedy also leads the team in receiving TD’s, with 5. James Daniels, and Jalen Melvin have also had success receiving the ball as well, as each has put up over 200 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Gators have not had as much success as they would like, since they have given up a large amount of points in some of the games this season. The defense has given up close to 30 points in two of their games this year. Nevertheless, some players have managed to have success regardless, which has ultimately impacted the team in a positive light. This includes players such as Vanderbilt LB commit, Michael Mincey Michael Mincey 6'1" | 210 lbs | LB Ware County | 2021 State GA , as well as TK Norton, Rodney Davis, and Jeremy Butler, who have continued to be the glue of the defense all throughout the season. Each player has played an intricate part in causing key defensive stops, as well as pressuring opposing offenses. If the Gators’ defense can continue to improve and rise to the occasion in certain situations, they will have a shot at competing in the playoffs.
