The 2020 season is in full swing across the state of Oklahoma. And while the season gets going, recruiting is as important as ever. As of right now, Oklahoma’s 2021 class has 31 prospects currently committed. The 2021 class appears to be deep, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Every Wednesday, we’ll spotlight five prospects that are still deciding their college futures.

is one of the more underrated quarterback prospects in this 2021 class. Now, the word underrated gets thrown around a lot when it comes to recruiting. However, the numbers don’t lie when it comes to Ward. For three years now, Ward has been one of the more productive quarterbacks in the state. He’s coming off a game where they faced unbeaten Collinsville, who has a stout defense, and put up over 500 yards of total offense. It doesn’t matter who the competition is, Ward finds a way to make plays, whether it’s passing or running the ball. At the rate we’re going, Ward is going to fly under the radar, a college will take a shot on him and he’ll end up having a very successful college career. But that success won’t be a surprise to us. He’s the real deal at the QB position.

– Linebacker – Booker T Washington
Booker T Washington is known for producing some of the best football players in the state. However, they also have plenty of hidden gems that play under the bright lights of SE Williams Stadium. One of those hidden gems on defense is a linebacker in

. The Hornet standout had a great start to his senior season and has continued to build off that throughout the year. Booker T Washington has one of the better defenses in the state, especially against the run. Grogan is a linebacker that can move sideline to sideline and is excellent in run support. However, he has also shown the ability to drop back in pass coverage and come up with interceptions in big moments. You can catch Grogan and the Hornets on the road against two-time champ Bixby on ESPN on Thursday night. It’ll be a great test for Grogan and the Hornets.
Gabe Trevillison – Running Back – Norman North
We don’t want to throw around the word underrated too much but sometimes it’s fitting. It was fitting with Ward at Pryor and it’s fitting again with Norman North running back Gabe Trevillison. And here’s the truth, with our Uncommitted Spotlight series, we’ve written about over 50 2021 prospects this season. We always write about a different prospect each week and now we’re starting to get into some of the guys that have been overlooked and should be considered underrated. Trevillison is a great example of that and one thing that has hurt him has been getting on the field. However, when he’s on the field and making plays, he’s one of the better running backs in 6A-D1. He has good size, he makes good reads and has a good burst in his game. We’re excited to see what he can do in the playoffs this month.

Piedmont runs the flexbone offense and because of that, they rarely pass the football. However, if they did throw the football more, we believe that senior

would be a bigger name in recruiting circles. Don’t get it twisted, he’s still a big time prospect, especially on the defensive side of the ball. But seeing West in person earlier this year, we can’t help but wonder what kind of ceiling he might have as a tight end at the next level. Nevertheless, West is still an outstanding prospect to look at when it comes to defensive end or even an outside linebacker in the right scheme. But don’t overlook what he could be if he got an opportunity on offense. That’s why we have him listed as an athlete here. While his brightest future might be on the defensive side of the ball. We can’t forget about what he could be on offense.

is similar in a lot of ways to West at Piedmont. Now, Tucker gets plenty of reps when it comes to the wide receiver position. But physically, and style of play, they are very similar to one another. After watching Tucker in person earlier this year, we walked away still unsure of what his most natural position could be at the college level. As a wide receiver, he’s a big target in the Jones passing attack and has made big plays. On defense, he has the ability to be an outstanding linebacker. At this point, we lean slightly to the defensive side of the ball. Tucker can use all of the abilities he showcases on offense and become an outstanding defender at the linebacker spot. He’s a big physical player and can help slow down the run. And obviously he can drop back in coverage and keep up with receivers.
