Today we look at the 8A District 2 area which is loaded with talent from the Tampa area. This district is so loaded with prospects that I had to break it up into a two-part series. Big time players and some under the radar prospects are spotlighted below!
Johnnie Cason- Wharton
5’9 170lbs
Cason is a running back that shows good vision and will hit the hole between the tackles, but also has acceleration and agility to cut it outside for big yard. He has a short compact frame and does a good job reading his blocks and finding open space. He could be a good change-of-pace back at the next level because of this quick burst and his ability to make chunk plays.

Deon Silas Deon Silas 5'6" | 175 lbs | RB Lutz Steinbrenner | 2021 FL – Steinbrenner
5’7 170lbs
Silas is one of the best all-purpose running back prospects in Florida, he combines speed, acceleration and make you miss moves, he breaks a lot of tackles for his size and runs with surprising power, constantly bouncing off tacklers. He’s one of the best punt returners in the state as well averaging 21.5 yards per return. Steinbrenner uses home in a lot of ways oh, he could even play receiver at the next level showing natural hands and route-running ability, catching 13 balls for 239 yards and two touchdowns. The average is 226 total yards a game. He’s currently committed to Iowa State University

Mitchell Wood- Palm Harbor University
6’1 190lbs
Wood is the focal point for Palm Harbor’s offense, he’s rushed for 557 yards on the season, he’s a long strider that shows patience, and some wiggle in the hole, he possesses burst and acceleration between the tackles, and has a little shiftiness to get around would-be tacklers. He runs with good power and lowers his shoulder to grind for extra yards.

James Holley-Berry- Alonso
5’6 170lbs
Holley-Berry has a short compact frame and does not take many big hits because of his natural low center of gravity. He’s a do-it-all back that can run and catch, has good vision, and acceleration through the hole. He’s more quick than fast, but he does have speed to go the distance oh, he shows that in a 96-yard touchdown run he had earlier this season. He’s rushed for 694 yards and nine touchdowns on the season.
