With the 2020 season started, I’m spotlighting Quarterback prospects from every classification in Florida. Today we look at the 7A District 8 area which is loaded with talent from the Tampa Bay area. Big time players and some under the radar prospects are spotlighted below!
David Wright- Tampa Bay Tech
5’10 190lbs
Wright is off to a nice start this season throwing for 1341 yards and 14 touchdowns. Wright is very smart and fearless in the pocket; he reads coverages well and is accurate in delivering the ball. Throws the back-shoulder pass as good as anyone in the state. He has really good timing and ball placement that allows his Trio of outstanding receivers to make plays without slowing down. Currently holds offers from Iowa Western and Edward Waters College.

Cam’Ron Ransom Cam’Ron Ransom 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Seffner Armwood | 2021 FL – Armwood
6’3 224lbs
Ransom is a smooth throwing Lefty that is currently committed to Georgia Southern. He holds over 10 offers and is rated a three-star quarterback, including offers from power 5 schools Boston College and Kentucky. He’s rated by most outlets as a dual-threat quarterback, but in my opinion he’s first and foremost a pass first prospect, that will only use his legs when he needs to. He has above-average mechanics and footwork, has an exceptionally strong arm and puts the ball on the money where his receivers never have to break stride. He’s one of the best quarterbacks in Florida. Ransom has thrown for 1193 yards and 13 touchdowns on the season so far.

Rocco Becht Rocco Becht QB Wesley Chapel Wiregrass Ranch | 2022 FL – Wiregrass Ranch c/o 22
5’11 170lbs
Becht is rated a three-star pro-style quarterback. He currently holds five D-1 offers including two offers from power 5 schools Wake Forest and Iowa State. He’s off to a hot start this season throwing for 1408 yards and 17 touchdown. Becht has outstanding mechanics with a clean set-up and footwork, can make every throw in the passing tree and posses great poise. He reads defenses really well, gets the ball out of his hands quickly, and consistently throws his receivers open. He also shows above average athleticism and can get out of the pocket and throw on the run with accuracy.

Nathan Carter- East Bay c/o 23
6’3 230lbs
Carter has burst on the scene this year for East Bay has an outstanding sophomore Prospect. He reminds me of a right-handed version of Tim Tebow, he doesn’t panic in the pocket showing poise and patience, and does a good job of keeping his eyes downfield for the open man, but he does have the athleticism, vision and power to pull the ball and pick up chunk yards. He has prototype size, and he shows nice touch on deep passes hitting his receivers in stride. Carter also is athletic enough to throw on the run with accuracy. This season he’s thrown for 812 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 307 yards and seven touchdowns on the season so far.
