Both North Little Rock and Bryant have had excellent seasons and have earned the right to meet for the state championship at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. Bryant comes into this contest looking to claim another state championship. However, North Little Rock will have revenge and earning a state championship as goals for next weeks contest.
Each team has plenty of talent on both sides of the ball to examine before the ball is kicked off next Saturday. The impact players with both teams are easy to pick out and the game next Saturday should be a great game. The number of players that will likely being playing on Saturdays over the next few years should not come as a surprise to people that follow the Hornets and the Charging Wildcats.
On the offensive side of the ball for the Charging Wildcats, the position to keep an eye on is the quarterback position. North Little Rock quarterback Kareame Cotton Kareame Cotton 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB North Little Rock | 2021 State AR has had an impressive season for the Charging Wildcats. In the victory over Cabot to reach the state playoffs, Cotton had 366 yards pass, 87 yards rushing, three touchdown passes, and three touchdowns on the ground. The one loss of the season for North Little Rock was to Bryant and it will be interesting to see what Cotton can do for an encore.
Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball, North Little Rock has one of the best under the radar linebackers for the class of 2022 in the form of Davian Vayson. Vayson is one of those guys that has a nose for the football and is on every play. The North Little Rock defense is going to have something to prove after Bryant was able to move up and down the field easily the last time the two teams faced off.
However, the Bryant Hornets have been a buzzsaw through the schedule this season and are looking to bring in a third state championship. Bryant has weapons all over the field on both the offensive and defensive side of the field. Austin Ledbetter and Hayden Schrader Hayden Schrader 6'2" | 205 lbs | TE Bryant | 2021 State AR have been torching the opposition all year through the year and are not giving any hints of slowing down. Schrader is one player that I still expect to receive some division one interest before signing day in December.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Hornets are not lacking in weapons. Kyle Knox Kyle Knox 6'1" | 185 lbs | DB Bryant | 2021 State AR and Kaleb Knox Kaleb Knox 6'2" | 190 lbs | DB Bryant | 2021 State AR have each terrorized opposing quarterbacks this season. Bryant fans should look for the Knox boys to force Cotton to make some difficult throws. Cotton does not mind getting out of the pocket and using his legs to pick up yardage and Bryant will have to find a way to contain Cotton. This game has the potential to be a great one and will cap a challenging season in Arkansas’ largest classification.
