The Greenwood Bulldogs are an exception to that rule. Greenwood has built a strong tradition over the years in Arkansas, reeling off multiple state championships. Greenwood is looking to advance in the playoffs and win a tenth state championship.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Greenwood Bulldogs have done it both on the ground and through the air. The Bulldogs have one of the states top underrated running backs in Hunter Wilkinson Hunter Wilkinson 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB Greenwood | 2021 State AR has ran the ball well for the Bulldogs all season and that trend has continued in the playoffs. In the opening round of the playoffs, Wilkinson punched the ball in the end zone three times.
Greenwood does an excellent job of mixing the run and the pass. Greenwood quarterback L.D. Richmond passed for two touchdowns against West Memphis in the first round of the playoffs. Richmond has made good use of wide receiver Peyton Carter Peyton Carter 6'5" | 205 lbs | WR Greenwood | 2021 State AR this season. When those two are in sync, then the Bulldogs are usually not having a problem executing drives and finding the end zone.
The Greenwood defense has made the stops when needed the most this season and have played a big part of the Bulldogs being undefeated. The Greenwood defense will have Jordan Hanna Jordan Hanna 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Greenwood | 2021 State AR back from injury in the second round of the playoffs. Hanna has numerous scholarship offers from schools such as Arkansas Tech, Pittsburg State, and Austin Peay to name a few. Having Hanna back will make a talented defense even tougher to scheme against.
Greenwood has the talent to win another state championship. The Bulldogs must avoid injury and keep the offense producing on the early downs. Winning a tenth title over a 21-year period proves that this kind of consistency does not happen often and that the Bulldogs have built a tradition that few teams can claim. The one thing to keep in mind is that the Bulldogs are always building for the future and the players there learn at an early age what the Bulldogs way of doing things really mean.
