Grandville Vs Traverse City West Overview By Sam Lass Overview: For the second round of this years west Michigan high school football playoffs, I packed up and went to Grandville High School to see the 6-1 Bulldogs, run by the wing tee formation, take on the 6-1 Traverse City. The Grandville Bulldogs were as hot as the usually pleasant weather in tonight’s matchup was. The game would start off fast for the Bulldogs as Senior running back [player_tooltip player_id="29760" first="Marcel" last="Love"] scampered for a 60-yard touchdown dash, to make the score 8-0 Bulldogs. And that would be proved to the end of the first quarter. The second quarter started with a touchdown run made by [player_tooltip player_id="29760" first="Marcel" last="Love"] once again to make the score 16-0, in favor of the Bulldogs. Lightning struck again with a 50-yard touchdown run by running back [player_tooltip player_id="29754" first="Cam" last="Terry"] to make the score 24-0 Bulldogs, in which made Grandville more in control in this contest. [player_tooltip player_id="29754" first="Cam" last="Terry"] showed off his breakaway speed with another 52-yard touchdown run, to crack the score 28-0 in the 2nd quarter. After a mostly quiet third-quarter the Bulldogs answered once again after a 70 yard touchdown run by [player_tooltip player_id="29760" first="Marcel" last="Love"], the drive was capped off by another [player_tooltip player_id="29754" first="Cam" last="Terry"] touchdown run from 20 yards out to make the score 35-0 Bulldogs, in which they would continue to coast to another impressive playoff victory. Key players: [player_tooltip player_id="29760" first="Marcel" last="Love"] Senior Grandville #2 RB: Love is the air, [player_tooltip player_id="29760" first="Marcel" last="Love"] is the workhorse running back for the Bulldogs and he has tremendous size and speed to break runs in and out of hole made by the offensive line. Love can also throw in his size when he needs to put his shoulder down and run through a small gap. Love is elusive and can also receive the ball out of the back field through the Bulldogs and which is a dangerous combination for defences. I’m feeling the love and college coaches will severely regret not looking at this young star prospect. [player_tooltip player_id="29754" first="Cam" last="Terry"] Senior Grandville #28 RB [player_tooltip player_id="29754" first="Cam" last="Terry"] is another speed demon in the backfield of the bulldogs, with [player_tooltip player_id="29760" first="Marcel" last="Love"] as the main running back, Terry provides a great one two running back punch that is one of the states bests running games. Whenever Terry is on the field, he is a danger to opposing defences with his ability to make defenders look silly in the open field. Terry had a 50-yard touchdown run to put the Bulldogs up 22-0 midway through the 2nd quarter. Terry shows off his speed once again to top the 2nd quarter off with a 52-yard touchdown run to make the game 28-0, and continue the bulldogs beat down. Zack Vanderwest Senior Grandville #5 RB: Zanderwest is the iron man running back for the bulldogs who sets the tone of the game for the Bulldogs. delivering punishing run after punishing run he is a load to bring down in opposing defence his fear trying to tackle him. There is a work horse running back and is willing to contribute and defence as a linebacker to win football games and compete for championships. J ackson Buckler Junior Grandville #70 LT: Buckler is huge and a very quick left tackle that anchors the bulldogs wing tee running game. When you watch the bulldogs run the football, a majority of there plays involve running on Buckler’s side and the success rate is very high each time. I would highly encourage college prospects if they need a left tackle they look at Buckler. Christian Bolvin Senior Traverse City #10: Bolvin is a solid running back for Trevor city with tremendous size and speed in height to throw around he is a cornerstone for the Traverse City offense and also sets the tone as a defensive captain, playing free safety and contributing on multiple tackles. Bolvin is a can’t miss prospect that coaches will love to develop.
