The impressive detail in this statement, is that the Hornets have taken control of the toughest conference in the state of Arkansas, the 7-A. Coach Buck James has got a team that can ring up 70 points on a quality opponent such as the Conway Wampus Cats. Examining the 2020 version of the Hornets is a necessity.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Hornets do not have a shortage of talent at the skill positions. At the quarterback position, the Hornets have Austin Ledbetter, who is having a terrific season as the signal caller for Bryant. Ledbetter has thrown for 2,380 yards, 32 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. Ledbetter is an accurate quarterback and will not be careless with the football. Bryant is seeking back to back state championships and Ledbetter gives the Hornets a quarterback that has been there before.
Meanwhile, with Ledbetter lighting it up through the air, his favorite target is wide receiver Hayden Schrader Hayden Schrader 6'2" | 205 lbs | TE Bryant | 2021 State AR . Schrader has racked up 1,014 yards receiving and has scored 12 touchdowns. Schrader runs precise routes and will rarely drop passes. When the Bryant Hornets are needing a big play in the passing game, Ledbetter is usually looking Schrader’s direction. Schrader is a 2021 sleeper that can be lined up at the wide receiver position or the tight end spot. Schrader will play on Saturdays in the fall and Ledbetter will take the mound for the Arkansas Razorbacks in the spring.
The rushing attack for the Hornets can, at times, get overlooked by what Ledbetter has been doing this season. Coach Buck James has two running backs that he can depend upon to get the hard-fought yards. Running backs Jamarien Bracy and Tanner Anderson Tanner Anderson 5'10" | 205 lbs | RB Bryant | 2021 State AR make for a solid one-two punch for the Hornets. Combined Bracy and Anderson have rushed for 1,555 yards and punched the ball in the end zone 23 times. Both running backs performing as well as they have forces the opposing defenses to account for both of them.
On the defensive side of the ball, the players to watch are Kyle and Kaleb Knox Kaleb Knox 6'2" | 190 lbs | DB Bryant | 2021 State AR . The Knox brothers are each players that the opposing quarterback should attempt to avoid. Each brother has the talent to take an interception and return for it a touchdown. As solid as the Bryant defense has been playing, points are going to be at a premium for any team that will square off against the Hornets. The bottom line is that the Hornets are well on the way to another state championship.
