We always talk about the individual players each but how about a look at the top talent classes by high school. Each day we will take a look at a different program and today we focus on AC Flora.
AC Flora is led by head coach, former Charleston Southern quarterback, Collin Drafts who guided them to a 10-2 record and top 10 AAAA ranking for the powerhouse from Columbia.
They have three prospects this year on the radar of D1/D2 teams. Their top prospect is Appalachian State commit TE Banks Pope Banks Pope 6'4" | 235 lbs | TE AC Flora | 2021 State SC (6’4, 235) who was an honorable mention All-State selection and AC Flora team MVP in 2019. The pass catching threat had offers from Akron, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Furman, Georgia Southern, Liberty, Western Kentucky, among others. Pope is currently our #1 tight end in South Carolina and #22 overall prospect.
The second best prospect in their program is defensive end Omarion Hammond Omarion Hammond 6'2" | 235 lbs | DL AC Flora | 2021 State SC (6’2, 235) who is currently committed to Georgia State. He had offers from App State, UCONN, and East Carolina. He has a good motor and brings a very good pass rush. Hammond is our #30 overall prospect and #7 defensive lineman.
Running back Matthew Pack Jr is the third player on the radar. Pack, a 5’8 185 pounder, had a very productive year in 2019 as he earned honorable mention All-State honors. Pack currently doesn’t have any offers but he should pick up steam with another season of averaging over 100 yards per game. He is a patient runner who lets the holes open up and then bursts through them. Another area of strength on film is his ability to catch out of the backfield as well. Division I programs are likely looking for bigger backs but he shows vision, ability to cut, and the speed to pick up big yards. Keep an eye on him this fall.
