Take a look at the 10 “Big Dogs of the Week” between archrivals Elk River and Rogers.
Logan O’Neil, WR (KR/PR), Rogers (2021)
Where O’Neil was most effective was in the return game for Rogers. He tailed more than two kicks to near the 50-yard line giving the Royals excellent field position to attack the Elks defense. O’Neil got my nod for Special Teams Player of the Game last night.
Charlie Folkens Charlie Folkens OL Rogers | 2021 State MN , OL, Rogers, (2021)
Folkens was a huge key last night to getting Ben Dahl Ben Dahl 6'1" | 235 lbs | OL Fargo South | 2021 State and Dominick Siharaj space they needed to move between the inside lanes of the Elks defense. Folkens is still without an offer, but his interest has been heating up from the Missouri Valley.
Cade Osterman, QB, Elk River (2023)
Osterman is just a sophomore but showed a little burst in running the football last night and threw one passing touchdown to Ryan Wilson Ryan Wilson 6'0" | LB Elk River | 2021 State MN . His touch on football isn’t too bad, and this sophomore starter has so much time to develop in the passing game; even though the Elks offense isn’t geared towards it, that doesn’t mean it won’t give Elk River options to pass to one of their rigid running backs this season.
Dominick Siharaj, RB, Rogers (2021)
Siharaj was an excellent second punch at running back for Rogers last night. This senior was elusive between the tackles and didn’t break the big gain, was rock solid on the later downs when the Royals needed a first down. Siharaj ran well between the blockers up front.
No Tape.
Carter Otto Carter Otto 6'0" | RB Elk River | 2021 State MN , RB (KR), Elk River (2021)
Otto wasn’t nearly as effective as expected, but made up a little bit for it in the return game. Otto provides the best kick return option for the Elks as he tallied approx. 25 yards per return, which is no slouch in high school football. Otto was undoubtedly tough to tackle on returns.
Zac Evenson, QB, Rogers, (2021)
When Rogers utilized their passing attack, Zac Evenson was quite useful. His connection with the two Owens on the big plays was a huge drawing point in this game. You won’t see the touch he has on the ball on film, but this is a kid that you will see it when you watch it in person. Evenson does need to work on his accuracy, has he did have a few overthrows yesterday to Michael Olowo Michael Olowo 6'2" | DB Rogers | 2021 State MN , who runs extreme crisp routes.
Owen Lefebvre, WR, Rogers (2022)
I just mentioned it above, but the “Owen Connection” for Rogers was on last night. Lefebvre seems to be the guy that got the Royals down the field, and Owen Kanzler would be the one finishing it in the end zone. Lefebvre no has some tape to add to his Hudl resume has he had glue hands when the ball came his way.
No Tape.
Rahim Avery, RB, Elk River (2021)
How well did my Elks sleeper at running back do last night? I would say 15 carries, 131 yards, and a touchdown is as good as you can get from your #2 at running back. He has outstanding downhill speed as we witnessed his 80-yard scamper to the end zone last night. Avery gets my nod for the Elk River’s MVP of the game, as he seems to be the only one offensively performing well with almost nine yards per carry.
Owen Kanzler, WR, Rogers (2022)
Kanzler was another wide receiver that started the fireworks last night for Rogers. He caught a bomb pass from Zac Evenson from just under 40 yards to make the score 7-0. The Royals don’t throw the ball a lot but look at their future games when they do throw for it goes to Michael Olowo Michael Olowo 6'2" | DB Rogers | 2021 State MN , Owen Kanzler, or Owen Lefebvre.
No Tape
Ben Dahl Ben Dahl 6'1" | 235 lbs | OL Fargo South | 2021 State , RB, Rogers (2021)
Dahl was just so effective on both sides of the football; it was just spectacular. The only player to make my list on both sides of the Big Dogs list. Dahl’s vision was just so strong at identifying where to go in between the tackles. Accumulated approx. 75% of the Royals scoring last night. The North Central Blue running back of the year proved his full worth of last year’s award against the archrival Elk River.
