Game Week Preview: Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres
SARTELL– A couple of weeks back, I took a trip up to the St. Cloud Area to check out the Sartell Sabres practice. The Sabres come into the 2020 season with a chip on their shoulder and a more experienced roster than seen in years past. If you are a numbers guy (not me), you would have read correctly that the Sabres have won a total of one game in the last three seasons but based on their work at the My7on7 Fall League I saw, they are bound to have their first multiple win season since 2016, which was a year they were one game away from making it to Minneapolis after a close loss to Alexandria. We will take a dive into Sabres Country, with a look at their schedule, their prospect list, and much more!
THE SCHEDULE
The Sabres have a nice balance on their schedule, but no doubt it is a tough one. The Sabres will play several Prep Redzone Minnesota prospects in this six-game schedule from the North Central-Red section.

THE PROSPECT LIST
This is the list of Sabres that you should look to watch this season and beyond as all of these kids have an excellent opportunity to play college football at the next level.
Blake Haus, TE/DE (2022)
Haus in 2019 was All-Section and All-District honorable mention and finished the season as a two way starter the last 3 games for the Sabres, a definite great way to end his sophomore season. Haus grew a lot bigger this offseason to near 260 pounds and has moved to tight end this season. That’s a massive factor for the Sabres and here’s why: I don’t think there is a bigger player to throw the ball to in their section. I see Haus as a very strong blocking tight end that can go out and catch passes in the red zone when you need him. The Packer fan in me gives me Mercedes Lewis type vibes.
Ethan Torgrimson Ethan Torgrimson 6'0" | RB Sartell-St. Stephen | 2021 State MN , RB/LB (2021)
Torgrimson defines the term “bully ball” at running back. Torgrminson is stacked from top to bottom athletically and is also very dependable as he did not fumble the football once last season for the Sabres. Torgrimson is also a stud linebacker, which will be more than likely where he will play at the college level. Torgrimson holds quite a few offers from Division III to Division II, but I think he would make a great linebacker in the Northern Sun.
Check out my recruiting report on Torgrimson below I did a while back!

Cole Hentges Cole Hentges 6'0" | 200 lbs | QB Sartell-St. Stephen | 2023 State MN , QB/DB (2023)
If you watch Cole’s freshman tape, you’ll be as intrigued as we were after we made him the #1 QB overall in our Class of 2023 rankings last year. I have to say, he has gotten much more poised and confident in what I saw of his reps in the fall league. “The offense really connected over the summer,” said Hentges in an interview. As just a young sophomore, this kid’s leadership is off the charts and a tremendous asset to your program.

Steven Brinkerhoff Steven Brinkerhoff 6'1" | 180 lbs | LB Sartell | 2022 State MN , RB/LB (2022)
Brinkerhoff’s ability to break tackles shows you that it’s not always about the measurables. Brinkerhoff is also a threat for the Sabres in the return game, and he’s a prospect you will miss in between the tackles on kickoffs. I only imagine this kid has gotten stronger from last season and will make him an even bigger threat on both sides of the ball for the Sabres.
