Game of the Week Preview: Detroit King vs Mona Shores

Prep Redzone Michigan’s Game of the Week! The biggest game to monitor this weekend will be Detroit King (3-2) against Mona Shores (5-0). Mona Shores enters the game undefeated and is looking to cap off a perfect regular season, but they will have a tough game against a very talented Detroit King squad. Both of these teams are major state championship contenders and it should be a thrilling game. <strong>Detroit King Crusaders</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="30316" first="Dante" last="Moore"] | QB | 2023 <em>Moore is a special talent and the top player in the state for the 2023 class. He started as a freshman last season and showed off his accuracy, arm strength and athleticism. He already holds double digit offers from teams like Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Kentucky and Arizona State. </em> [player_tooltip player_id="29540" first="Jaylen" last="Reed"] | DB | 2021 <em>Reed is an interchangeable playmaker that has been the best defensive player for Detroit King this season. I love his instincts and toughness. The Penn State commit is one of the top players in the state and will be key to stopping Mona Shores’ offense. </em> [player_tooltip player_id="29560" first="Brandon" last="Honorable"] | OL | 2021 <em>Honorable is the top offensive line prospect in this game and is a key part of King’s offensive success. He has the frame and athleticism that college coaches want and I’m really excited about his future. The senior is set to play his college ball at Pittsburgh where he should develop into a really good player on the next level. </em> [player_tooltip player_id="30317" first="Johnathan" last="Slack"] | OL | 2023 <em>Slack is a rising player that should be recognized as a top tier talent in the state. He moves really well for a big man and should continue to develop his technique throughout his career. The sophomore currently holds six offers from Michigan State, Arizona State, Southern Miss, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Memphis. </em> [player_tooltip player_id="30148" first="Lynn" last="Wyche-El"] | WR | 2022 <em>Wyche-El is small, but he makes up for it with his speed and playmaking ability. He has been Moore’s go-to receiver this season and will be a key part of any playoff run that Detroit King makes. He holds just two offers from Kentucky and Syracuse, but that number should increase soon. </em> <strong>Mona Shores Sailors</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="29824" first="Brady" last="Rose"] | ATH | 2021 <em>Rose is Mona Shores’ top player and has been key to their success on both sides of the ball. He is very undersized, but he has great quickness and can make plays with the ball in his hands. He holds offers from Ferris State, Mount Union, Lawrence Tech and Hope, but he should be picking up many more than that. </em> [player_tooltip player_id="29679" first="Keondre" last="Pierce"] | DB | 2021 <em>Pierce plays both ways for the Sailors, but he projects best at defensive back at the next level. Regardless of the position he is playing, he is a great athlete with solid speed and playmaking ability. He holds two offers from Alma and Lake Erie, but I think he is a player that could see more as the 2021 cycle comes to an end. </em> [player_tooltip player_id="30079" first="Karsen" last="Marihugh"] | LB | 2021 <em>Marihugh could play either linebacker or defensive end at the next level. He is a high motor player with good size and toughness. He somehow holds no offers, but I expect that to change with the recognition he will receive on a team like Mona Shores. </em> Bryce Sikkenga | OL | 2021 <em>Sikkenga is the heart and sole of the Sailors’ offensive line and has been a key piece of their offense. He shows a nasty streak and consistently finishes blocks to the ground. He holds one offer from Hope, but is another player on this team that should see an uptick in his recruiting soon.</em> [player_tooltip player_id="30006" first="Khyree" last="Hamel"] | DB | 2021 <em>Hamel is an underrated prospect, which is surprising considering the team he is on. He is a physical tackler that shows the range to fly around the field. He holds just one offer from Hope, but hopefully that number can go up as he gains more exposure. </em>
