Every week, we’ll have practice reports, featuring some of the best teams in the state as they prepare for a big game on Friday night. We’ll give a breakdown on how the team is doing, how some of the top stars are shining and who are some of their breakout performers. This report features 5A powerhouse Carl Albert as they head into a rivalry showdown with Del City.
Last Week – Beat Midwest City 41-26
Carl Albert would have to rally in their season opener. The Titans trailed rival Midwest City at halftime but the Titans did not hit the panic button. They did what they do best and that’s run the ball at will. When they needed to put a scoring drive together, they did just that. And on the defensive side of the ball, the Titans limited Midwest City’s offense after they had a strong showing in the first half. The Titans certainly come into this season as the team to beat in Class 5A as they go after what would be their 5th straight state championship. Check out the individual spotlight for more on who really had a good game against Midwest City and some other names you need to know about going into the rest of the 2020 season.

– 2021 Quarterback
With the win over Midwest City, you can improve his record to 42-1 as QB1 for the Carl Albert Titans. That’s pretty good. Needless to say, Titan quarterback

is an absolute winner. And yet, when it comes to the recruiting side of things, you can make the argument that he’s underrated. That he’s a victim of a team with an unreal running attack and top defense. However, when you really look at his game, and we’ve had plenty of chances over the last three years, he’s a legitimate quarterback prospect. He doesn’t make mistakes, he can throw it all over the field and he’s become a great leader. He can play.

After having a breakout season last year as a sophomore, we wanted to see how

would improve going into his junior season. We got our answer immediately. Late in their win over Midwest City, Bizzell became a workhorse and carried the ball on eight straight plays, scoring on the final carry to put the game out of reach from the Bombers. Bizzell is more of a power back that has the ability to carry the ball eight straight times. However, if you’re not careful in containment, Bizzell can get out in the open field and make teams pay. We’re very excited to see how Bizzell does against the Del City defense.

in our Uncommitted Spotlight yesterday. If you haven’t had a chance to check that out, go ahead and do that. A lot of what we could say about Crews would be somewhat repetitive. Instead, we’ll talk about the impact he could have in this week’s game against Del City specifically. What Carl Albert does well is run the football. What Del City does well is defending against the run. That’ll open up opportunities in the passing game. Enter Crews. If Crews can torch the Eagles for a few big plays, the Titans will have a great shot and Crews will have a big game.

more of the lightning/home run threat running back. Hunt is without a doubt the highest rated recruit on this Titan team and has been a name to watch over the last few seasons. Hunt led the Titans in their win over the Bombers with nearly 150 rushing yards. Hunt, who committed to Arkansas earlier this year, is one of the top playmakers in the state. On the defensive side of the ball, he also has the ability to be a shutdown corner. Hunt is not only one of the top recruits in the state but one of the top overall players as well.

– 2021 Offensive Lineman
We’ve mentioned multiple times how Carl Albert’s biggest strength on offense is their running game. Yes, they have two of the best running backs in the state and that certainly helps. However, they couldn’t do it alone. And anchoring Carl Albert’s offensive line over the last few seasons has been

. In fact, in their win over Midwest City, Dobson played a nearly perfect game according to his coaches. He’ll certainly have his work cut out for him against a Del City defense that is terrific at stopping the run. However, if the Titans are going to bring home another Mid-Del championship, Dobson has to be on his A game once again.
This Week – AT 6A-D2’s #4 Del City
Carl Albert will travel to Del City for their annual rivalry meeting after both teams opened their seasons last week. Del City went on the road and lost a very close game with Booker T Washington. Carl Albert had to rally to knock off another rival in Midwest City last week. The Titans were able to run the ball at will against the Bombers. That will be a huge key for the Eagles going into this week two clash. Granted, that plays into Del City’s strongest attribute which is their run defense. They did a great job limiting Booker T Washington last week in the run game. It won’t be easy for the Titans to just line up and run the ball downhill on this very stout Del City defense.
