On Sunday, September 13th I attended Fist Football’s offensive and defensive line training session in Downers Grove. The session had a great turnout and showcased prospects from the FBS level to Division 3. In attendance were prospects from the 2024, 2023, 2022 & 2021 class. Here’s who stood out!
OL’s
Thomas Hubbard, Barlett, JR
This kid to me is no doubt a division one prospect. He’s got good size at 6’4, 260 and plays nasty. He has a heavy punch that he utilizes to overpower defenders and has overall good hand placement. I think offers could be coming soon for this young man.
Zach Barlev Zach Barlev 6'4" | 275 lbs | OL Plainfield East | 2021 IL , Plainfield East, SR
The man with the aviators showed quick feet and really good body control. He’s put together for a high school offensive lineman and was fundamentally sound all afternoon. He was the most polished offensive linemen at the workout and you can see why the Illini are excited to have him apart of their 2021 class.
Trenton VanBoening, Libertyville, SO
This kid is huge at 6’5, 270, and has really long arms. He’s a bit raw right now, but you can see the pure potential in the way that he moves and the mean streak he posses. He’s got great body control and can easily work to the second level. Keep an eye on this kid over the next three years.
Eddie Fleck, Mount Carmel, SO
Fleck is a worker and tough as they come. He won’t overwhelm you with size at 6’2, 230, but from a fundamental perspective, he was top notch. The kid plays hard and won’t stop until the whistle is blown. He’s got good feet and was dominant all day.
Others Who Stood Out
Connor Hare, Bartlett, JR
Ryan Yabi, Glenbard North, JR
Josh Sander, Hinsdale South, JR
Jack Donovan, St. Francis, FR
DL’s
T.J. McMillen T.J. McMillen 6'3" | 305 lbs | DL St. Francis | 2023 State IL , St. Francis, SO
Every time I see this guy, he always impresses. He’ quick of the ball, has loose hips, and has a great long arm. Right now he’s a five-technique, but I think he’ll grow into a three-technique and has the frame to easily add thirty pounds. Syracuse and Central Michigan were the first to offer and they certainly won’t be the last.
Demarcus Caston, Brother Rice, SO
This guy can move for a big fella! Demarcus has heavy hands and does a great job of getting extension on interior offensive linemen. Caston is a true nose tackle who not only can stop the run, but also can provide a steady pass rush.
Jacob Kaminski, Wyoming Seminary (PA), SR
Go turn on this kids tape, you’ll surely be impressed. Kaminsky is a fantastic hand fighter and is extremely twitchy. He dominated during 1 on 1’s and showed his ability as a pass rusher. I’m shocked this kid has nothing going on right now because the talent is certainly there.
Kaleb White, Fremd, JR
I had no idea who this kid was going into this workout, but after talking to Coach Salomon & Coach Sabo and watching him he’s certainly on my radar now. Kaleb is so quick of the ball, can bend, and has good power for a smaller pass rusher. He’s a true 3-4 outside linebacker and I think he could make a huge impact at the varsity level early.
Connor Murphy Connor Murphy 6'3" | 230 lbs | DL Glenbard South | 2022 State IL , Glenbard South, JR
This kid has been on my radar for quite some time, and I think he could be a huge sleeper from the Land of Lincoln. He’s technically sound, plays with a high motor, can bend and moves really well. He’s been a starter since he was a freshman and has done nothing but produce. He was one of the polished defensive line prospects at the workout.
Michael Roath, South Elgin, SR
He can play offensive line or defensive line and will do good things. This guy is aggressive and plays with great hand placement. He doesn’t let his size phase him and will do everything in his power to overwhelm OL’s. He’s a high effort player with a ton of upside as a defensive lineman.
