Colorado 7-on-7 Clubs: Team Full Gorilla and Performance Empire
Colorado is a sleeping giant when it comes to talented high school athletes, which can easily be seen by scanning through the club rosters of Team Full Gorilla and Performance Empire.
The two juggernaut programs faced off for the first time in a scrimmage this weekend, which also happened to be Performance Empire’s 7-on-7 debut. Between the two teams, there was six Division I commits on the field, a few D-II and D-III commits, and a plethora of players with multiple offers who have yet to commit.
With D-I committed players like Luke McAllister Luke McAllister 6'4" | QB Palmer Ridge | 2021 State CO (Colorado State), Terrance Furgeson (Oregon), Ty Robinson Ty Robinson 6'3" | WR Eaglecrest | 2021 State CO (Colorado), and Kaden Dudley Kaden Dudley 6'0" | WR Palmer Ridge | 2021 State CO (Boise State), it comes as no surprise that Team Full Gorilla is a nationally respected program. Performance Empire, on the other hand, is a new team with a stacked roster of their own. Cherry Creek’s Chase Penry Chase Penry 6'1" | WR Cherry Creek | 2021 State CO (Colorado), Julian Hammond III Julian Hammond III 6'2" | QB Cherry Creek | 2021 State CO (Colorado basketball), and Myles Purchase Myles Purchase 5'11" | DB Cherry Creek | 2021 State CO (10 offers) are just a few of the highly talented weapons on Empire’s roster.
Each team has, what seems to be, an unlimited amount of under-the-radar talent as well. Chyon Kendrick Chyon Kendrick 6'1" | DB Eaglcrest | 2021 State CO (Gorilla) and Marcus Williams Marcus Williams 5'11" | DB Grandview | 2022 State CO (Empire) are two insanely underrated lockdown cornerbacks. Kendrick is a senior who plays for Eaglecrest High School, while Williams is a junior player for Grandview High School. Wide receivers like Elisha Evans Elisha Evans 6'0" | WR Fountain-Fort Carson | 2022 State CO (Gorilla) and Brayden Munroe Brayden Munroe 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Chaparral | 2023 CO (Empire) were also flying around the field making plays. Evans, a junior, is a show-stopping player from Fountain-Fort Carson High School, and Munroe is a talented sophomore athlete from Chaparral High School.
Team Full Gorilla is a well-established powerhouse, while the Performance Empire squad is a newly built goliath. Regardless of the team, combing through the list of rosters would be extremely beneficial for collegiate scouts from every level.
With Colorado’s high school football season being the topic of heavy debate, club teams like Team Full Gorilla and Performance Empire have been providing players with an opportunity to continue to train, compete, and get better. It is also worth mentioning that these two teams may build one of the most entertaining 7-on-7 rivalries in Colorado; a state that produces some of the most underrated high school talents in the country.
