In 2020, Buford will be coming off of a successful 2019 season in which they won the state championship over Warner Robbins High School. In this game, Buford found itself on top with a final score of 17-14.
This upcoming season, Buford will be hoping to have a repeat of their 2019 success. They will have to do so without some of their key players in previous seasons. This includes players such as Center, Seth McLaughlin, who now plays for Nick Saban at Alabama. Other key players include that of CB’s Jalen Huff, who is committed to Georgia Tech, and Arizona State’s T. Lee.
Lucky enough for Buford, they will certainly still be able to show out on offense with weapons such as WR’s Malik Williams Malik Williams 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Buford | 2021 State GA , Jake Pope Jake Pope 6'2" | 195 lbs | ATH Buford | 2022 State GA , and Ryland Gandy. The team will also be returning their star RB, Gabe Ervin Gabe Ervin 6'1" | 190 lbs | RB Buford | 2021 State GA , who is currently committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Not only will these vital players be returning in 2020, but Buford can expect players such as Tony Beuglas to continue to shine at MLB.
While Buford constantly has a list of names, and players who find a way to continue show out for their team and contribute in a big way, it can also be noted that they always have young players that step up to the plate as well. As the season is about to begin, we look forward to seeing who those players will be, and if the program will put itself in position to repeat as state champions.
