Specifically, the RB position constantly has its critics and doubters. Lucky for you, we keep an eye on all of the RB’s in the state of GA, whether they have received a lot of attention or not. Below, we have listed some of the 2021 RB’s in the state of Georgia that we feel will need to show out this season, and if they do, have a chance to play football at the next level. Chances are, you probably haven’t heard of some of these players!
Amir Harper Amir Harper 5'10" | 210 lbs | RB Shaw | 2021 GA – 5’10 210- Shaw
When watching Amir Harper Amir Harper 5'10" | 210 lbs | RB Shaw | 2021 GA , one will notice that he always finds ways to get to the end zone. This is a good thing, as he will need to continue to do such things to gain the attention of college programs this upcoming season. While he has not had much attention so far, we believe that this season will be huge for him in determining if he can play at the next level. Harper shows decent vision of a developing play whenever he has the ball in his hands, and he also has a decent change of direction. He can be balanced when he experiences contact, and he can be patient with sticking his foot in the ground as well. All of these things are good traits to have, and he also pairs them with his ability to have straight line speed, with a good stride in his running. The thing about Harper though, is his speed. Will his speed improve, and will he be able to pull away from players at the next level? That is the question. If he can improve upon this, and answer these questions, chances are, he will receive some smaller offers this upcoming year.
Damozzio Harris- 5’9 185- Jenkins
Damozzio Harris is the smallest RB on this list, but has some of the highest potential. When running, Harris constantly keeps his legs churning, and is able to gain more yards, and shed defenders because of it. As most coaches would say, Harris gains the “hard yards.” With this, Harris is not afraid of contact, and displays a slight burst of speed in his upright running style. He is also not afraid to run behind his pads and lower his shoulder, which is crucial for a player of his size. Harris is also great at finishing his runs, and turning plays into positive gains. While he has received a small amount of attention, this season will be huge for him in being able to get his name in the mouths of coaches from small schools. If he continues to barrel over defenders, and rack up a decent amount of yards, we certainly expect him to be able to receive offers from FCS schools.
Phillip Johnson Phillip Johnson 6'2" | 215 lbs | RB Temple | 2021 GA – 6’2 215- Temple
As you cut on the tape of Phillip Johnson Phillip Johnson 6'2" | 215 lbs | RB Temple | 2021 GA , the first thing that jumps off of the screen is his size and frame. Johnson is definitely a bigger back, and has a running style that shows flashes of Leonard Fournette. Johnson runs through tackles, with his downhill running style, and is constantly putting opposing players on the ground. He utilizes a great stiff arm to gain distance from tacklers, and also uses a bit of a burst to separate from them as well. With this, he has average vision, an an inconsistent ability to change direction quickly. While Johnson has the ability to be great, we have no doubt that he has not received the attention that he can due to some of these inconsistencies. Going into this season, Johnson needs to be able to tie some of these things together as a way to gain more attention, and potential offers.
