These schools, being 15 minutes away from each other, always draws a big crowd, or cross town rivals. This rivalry, as competitive as it is, always features incredible players who go on to play at the next level, and usually provides great entertainment and close scores. In 2019, this was not the case. Last season, Parkview defeated Brookwood 50-19, resulting the biggest point differential in the history of this competition. With this, it can also be noted that Parkview has defeated Brookwood two years in a row, but does not hold the record for wins in this competition. Brookwood holds the all time record in wins, with a record of 22-16 wins over Parkview over the span of this rivalry. While Brookwood looks to break the cycle of losses against Parkview this year, we also look forward to seeing how that turns out for these two schools when they are in the heat of competition. Below, we have included a brief explanation of a few players to look out for ahead of this competition.
Brookwood
Brookwood, coming off a season of ups and downs, will hope to bounce back in 2020, and will be able to do so with stars on each side of the ball. This season, Brookwood will be returning their star WR/CB Marquis Groves Killebrew, who is already committed to UGA as a rising Junior. While Grove-Killebrew will certainly be a game changer on both sides of the ball, fans should also look for Brookwood to have success on offense from playmakers such as RB, Alexander Diggs, and transfer WR, Denylon Morissette. On defense, Brookwood will have players such as DE, Jackson Schulz who will make a difference in stopping the run, and pressuring the passer. While it may be a tall order, if Brookwood plays to its schemes and assignments, they can hope to defeat, or slow down Parkview, unlike last season.
Parkview
Parkview fans saw their season come up short in the semi-finals against Marietta high school. Parkview fans, and players are probably itching for the season to start, not just to attempt a 3-peat against Brookwood, but to get back to the playoffs. While they have an obvious star on offense in their RB Cody Brown Cody Brown 6'0" | 211 lbs | RB Parkview | 2021 State GA , who is committed to Tennessee, they also have other great prospects such as their other RB Jaxon Horne, and WR Bryce Fleetwood Bryce Fleetwood 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR Parkview | 2021 State GA . Even with this great offense, Parkview fans should be just as excited about the players who will be returning on defense. Players such as Safety, Quincy Bryant Quincy Bryant 6'1" | 195 lbs | DB Parkview | 2021 State GA , who is committed to Wake Forest, and UCF CB commit, Ronnie Hamrick, will be making plays on defense all season long. If all goes according to their plans, 2020 should prove to be a great season, and teams like Brookwood will not stand a chance.
