It Was Quite A Ride For Jones In 2019
For so many years, fans of Jones High wondered what it would be like to play in the state football finals.
With the site of the championship game across the East-West Expressway in Orlando, it was as easy as walking the four blocks. That dream disappeared last year when the site was moved 60 miles away to Daytona Beach.
As fate would have it, the Fightin’ Tigers did advance to the state championship game last season, and while it wasn’t across the street, the fans and supporters did find a way to follow a team that had won 13 of 14 games to the title contest against two-time state champion Miami Northwestern.
Even though this team lost the game to the high powered Bulls, they did serve notice that they would be in line to be in the mix for years to come.
With head coach Elijah Williams bringing back a solid group of prospects, this team has what it takes this season to play for the state title once again.
Yes, dreams do come true – maybe not across the street – but close enough where everyone can reward you for a job well done.
