With that said, we are going to take a look at the top skill position players from as many districts as possible in the state before fall camps begin.
Some of these players are already receiving college interest, while others are looking to catch the eye of that right coach.
Justin Cook – Clayton Ridge
Clayton Ridge’s Justin Cook found himself with the ball in his hands more often than not last year.
And Cook can expect more of the same this season.
The Class of 2021 player ran for a team-leading 309 yards on 67 carries a year ago, scoring one touchdown. He was also an important part on special teams, averaging 17.5 yards with a TD on kickoff returns.
Max Havlicek – MFL MarMac

On defense, Havlicek recorded 43.5 tackles including 33 solo stops with three intercpetions.
Caleb Hughes – Postville

He also had 14 tackles and forced two turnovers on defense.
Jacob Herold Jacob Herold 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB South Winneshiek | 2021 IA – South Winneshiek
South Winneshiek has turned into quite the formidable program, and the Warriors will try to keep that momentum going this year.
Quarterback Jacob Herold Jacob Herold 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB South Winneshiek | 2021 IA is coming off a season in which he threw for 2,562 yards with 21 touchdowns and just eight interceptions. Herold completed 174 of 285 passes, averaging almost 15 yards per completion with a rating of over 136.
He added almost 200 yards and six scores on the ground and will have some big-time targets to work with yet again.
Cael Kuboushek – South Winneshiek
Speaking of those big-time targets, South Winneshiek’s Cael Kuboushek had 63 receptions last year for 819 yards with five scores as part of a deep receiving group.
The Warriors lost a handful of those players to graduation, but Kuboushek showed he is more than ready to step up. He averaged 13 yards per reception and over 15 yards per kickoff return.
Kobe Risse – Wapsie Valley
One of the last programs to win a state title was the Wapsie Valley boys basketball team, and Kobe Risse was part of that unit.
Risse is coming off a fine football season, as well, having thrown for 1,290 yards with 15 touchdowns. He completed 94 of 165 passes, averaging almost 14 yards per completion with a quarterback rating of 122.7.
Blayde Bellis – Wapsie Valley
Providing a constant target for Kobe Risse at Wapsie Valley is classmate Blayde Bellis. Side note, how incredible of a tandem is Kobe Risse-to-Blayde Bellis?
