As college coaches we are always looking for players that can separate themselves from the pack, and the players listed below have done that in my mind. Here is a list of 2021 WR prospects that you need to know about!
- James Mallory James Mallory 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Terre Haute South Vigo | 2021 State IN – South Vigo
I fully expect James to build on a strong Jr season and have a breakout Sr year. During his 2 year varsity career, he has an impressive 50 receptions for 779 yards and 10 TD’s. A fundamentally sound player with great body control, ball skills, and ability to snap off routes to gain separation from DB’s. He does a great job using his length to high point the ball and win 50/50 balls downfield. A proven threat on short, intermediate, and deep balls… Mallory is a complete prospect. I love his pedigree as well. Saying that James comes from a football family would be an understatement. His grandpa (Bill) was a D1 head coach for over 25 years, and was the head coach at Indiana from 1984-1996. His dad (Curt) is currently the head coach at Indiana State, and two of his uncles coach in the NFL (All 3 played at Michigan in college). Mallory’s combination of frame and athleticism, combined with his pedigree, make him a D1 prospect. Definitely a player you need to follow in the coming year and beyond.
- Connor Delp Connor Delp 5'11" | 175 lbs | WR Center Grove | 2021 State IN – Center Grove
As a slot back in the Center Grove offense, Connor runs the ball out of the backfield in addition to his role as a receiver. He does both at a high level! You can tell he has experience as a running back because one of the most impressive aspects of his game is gaining yards after the catch. He is lightning quick, has a burst, speed, and is a home run threat when the ball is in his hands. The rate at which he reaches full speed is really impressive, and his ability to stop and make a cut while at full speed is even more impressive. One of the best parts of his game, is the ability to gain separation on short and underneath routes. That is also a trait makes him a great slot prospect at the college level. You will be hearing more about Connor in the coming years and he is a prospect that college coaches at all levels need to know about.
- Remington Gall Remington Gall 6'5" | 195 lbs | WR Avon | 2021 State IN – Avon
The first thing that stands out about Remington is his great size. Listed at 6’5″ 195, he brings a high level of body control and speed that many receivers with his frame lack. Whether he lines up in the slot or outside, Gall is pretty much guaranteed to create a mismatch anywhere on the field. He does a great job using his size to box out defenders, and shows the ability to adjust his body to the ball in order to make the tough catch. The only offer that he reports right now is from Valparaiso and that makes him an extremely under-recruited prospect in my opinion.
- Zavier Simpson Zavier Simpson 6'2" | 195 lbs | WR Pike | 2021 State IN – Pike
Listed at 6’3″ 195, Simpson is the size of a linebacker with the athleticism of a D1 wide receiver. You’d think that he is more of a possession receiver with his build, but with the speed to stretch the field that is not the case. Zavier brings a physical mentality to a position that often lacks it. Whether it be as a blocker in the run game or breaking tackles after the catch, the way he takes advantage of players that lack his strength and physicality is impressive. With offers from Air Force, Navy, Indiana State, Columbia, and Dartmouth… Zavier is in a great spot as far as his recruiting goes, but he is capable of having a lot more interest. I imagine he will catch the eye of plenty more college coaches as we get closer to signing day.
- Darian Hanley Darian Hanley 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH North Miami Middle | 2021 State IN – North Miami
Darian may be Considered more of an ATH recruit right now, but he will most likely play WR at the college level. With 1204 yards rushing, 36 receptions for 417 yards, and 15 total TD’s… He did it all for North Miami last season. He jumps off the film from the very first play of his highlight. With a great combination of size and speed, Hanley can pretty much lineup and be a threat at any skill position on offense. I also see him as a prospect that can be an immediate impact player on special teams at the college level as well. He may not be your traditional WR prospect, but this is a player that can be a difference maker with the ball in his hands. Darian is currently listed as having offers from Indiana State and Dayton, but would likely have more had there been spring eval and college camps. This is a player you will definitely be hearing more about in the coming years.
