With Performance Empire being owned by two former Colorado high school receivers, both of whom made it to the pro level, one would expect there to be an arsenal of talented receivers at the event this past weekend. Well, Performance Empire’s first showcase did not disappoint. Show-stopping plays help athletes standout, and consistency ensures the spotlight stays on them. There was no shortage of standout receivers at the event. Here is a list of a few in-coming seniors who turned heads all weekend: [player_tooltip player_id="22615" first="Liam" last="Francis"] - Horizon Francis is a tough receiver who deserves to be on watchlists. He’s a skillful route-runner with great hands and an uncanny ability to track the ball. The 6-foot, 190lbs receiver is difficult to jam at the line because of his speed (4.6 40 time) and strength. Francis displayed his playmaking ability and physicality during the showcase, proving himself to be a very underrated sleeper. [caption id="attachment_42383" align="alignright" width="300"] [player_tooltip player_id="43554" first="Daymond" last="Hill Jr."][/caption][player_tooltip player_id="43554" first="Daymond" last="Hill Jr."] - Cheyenne Mountain Hill Jr. is a true offensive weapon who is dangerous as a running back and as a receiver. One thing that stood out about Hill Jr. is how he ensures to keep a DB’s hands off of him as he continues to push upfield. He stays low in and out of his breaks, making his route running sharp and precise. The 6-foot-1 and 180lbs athlete isn’t just a physical player, he’s the type of player who initiates contact with the intention of driving through it. This is a special player. [player_tooltip player_id="43555" first="Nate" last="Burke"] - Cherokee Trail Burke is a fun receiver to watch. At 6-foot-4 and 185lbs, this player’s catch radius and phenomenal hands make him a cheat code. Burke is an outside receiver who can stretch the field as a deep threat, but he can also run routes like a smaller slot receiver. He is able to create space out of his breaks due to the power he generates off of his instep. Another one of Burke’s standout qualities is how he makes sure to get his head around before fully coming out of his breaks, greatly adding to his target value. [embed]https://twitter.com/Nate0233/status/1292664112292532225?s=20[/embed] [caption id="attachment_42274" align="alignright" width="300"] [player_tooltip player_id="22569" first="Jack" last="Hestera"][/caption][player_tooltip player_id="22569" first="Jack" last="Hestera"] - Ralston Valley Hestera is the type of player who comes to compete against the best. The 6-foot1, 175lbs receiver plays with a chip on his shoulder, his way of proving that he deserves to be viewed as one of the top in his class. He is quick off the line and makes sure to keep the DB from being able to jam him while working to stack. His 4.59 40 speed allows for the QB to air it out and let Hestera get after it. This player possesses true show-stopping abilities. [caption id="attachment_42258" align="alignright" width="292"] [player_tooltip player_id="22528" first="Chase" last="Penry"][/caption][player_tooltip player_id="22528" first="Chase" last="Penry"] - Cherry Creek Penry is a 6-foot-1 and 190lbs reliable target with great hands and sharp route running abilities. He’s a fast mover who gets in and out of his breaks quickly while working his way back to the ball. Penry ran a 4.6 40-yard dash, making him a nightmare for any coverage, especially in open space. Coming off of a 5A state title win, Penry is working towards improving his already impressive resume. [caption id="attachment_42291" align="alignright" width="300"] [player_tooltip player_id="43559" first="Brady" last="Williamson"][/caption][player_tooltip player_id="43559" first="Brady" last="Williamson"] - Cherry Creek Williamson really stood out during the competition phase of day two in the open field 1-on-1s. He is a good route runner who has great size (6-foot-2, 175lbs) and strong hands. There were more than a few good plays that he made, but there was one that really stood out. Williamson ran a hitch route with a defender blanketing him and managed to secure an extended catch, even though the DB got a hand on the ball. Williamson showed great potential during the event, he’s definitely worth keeping an eye out for. [robo-gallery id="42166"]
