However, some players have stood out as being the best at their position because of their dominance on the field. These athletes had tape that left me stunned on the majority of their plays and can translate their game in college. Here are the top OT’s from NC:
Yousef Mugharbil Yousef Mugharbil 6'5" | 315 lbs | OL Murphy | 2021 State NC , OT, 6’5 and 300 lbs, Murphy HS
Mugharbil is an athletic offensive tackle that is always working to find someone to block on every play. He constantly flattens his opponents and moves them out of gaps to create a hole for his running back. Yousef has the ability to reach the second level on running plays and can be used in any scheme. He has great hand use in pass protection and hardly ever allows defenders to get by him. He’s best at the reach and combo blocks on the field. Currently has 16 offers that include Penn State, Florida, Arkansas, and South Carolina.
Jaleel Davis Jaleel Davis 6'5" | 305 lbs | OL Richmond Senior | 2021 State NC , OT, 6’6 and 300 lbs, Richmond Senior HS
Davis is a powerful offensive tackle that leaves his opponents on the ground consistently. He drives his legs to take defensive lineman away from the play which allows his team to run the football to his side of the field. Davis is reliable in pass protection because he has great hand placement and excellent footwork. Also, can anchor himself when the defender tries to bull rush him and hold his ground. Jaleel has already committed to NC State, but had numerous offers from great schools.
Diego Pounds Diego Pounds 6'6" | 305 lbs | OL Millbrook | 2021 NC , OT, 6’6 and 298 lbs, Millbrook HS
Pounds is a zone-running scheme offensive tackle that controls his opponents with his great hand use. He is best used as a pulling tackle and on screen plays because of his quickness and nimble feet. Diego has a strong base that allows him to hold up defenders in pass protection. He’s a reliable player that doesn’t make mistakes and leaves defensive linemen on the ground. Currently has 36 offers from schools like Auburn, LSU, Alabama, and Michigan.
Korion Sharpe Korion Sharpe 6'4" | 315 lbs | OL Rocky River | 2021 State NC , OT, 6’4 and 315 lbs, Rocky River HS
Sharpe is a gap-running scheme offensive tackle that uses his physicality on almost every play. He gives out pancakes constantly and is always clearing lanes for his running backs. Korion has the rare ability to redirect his opponent and block them 20 yards away from the actual play. He has a high football IQ and quickly identifies the closest defender to get his hands on. This quick OL has 7 offers that include Akron and Toledo.
Andrew Canelas Andrew Canelas 6'8" | 300 lbs | OL Leesville Road | 2021 State NC , OT, 6’8 and 290 lbs, Leesville Road HS
Canelas is a powerful offensive tackle who finishes blocks with great force. He has a strong upper body that he uses to be effective on running plays. Canelas can be used in Zone or Gap blocking schemes and moves well for his size. He is a solid pass protector that uses his strong hands to control defensive ends.
