THE SCOOP ON LEWIS: While it’s been a strange off season for one of this country’s top-rated linebacker prospects, you cannot take away the fact that this is as gifted a football player as you will find anywhere.
The problem with national recruiting services is they do not see everyone play. In fact, outside of a pair of shorts and a t-shirt and game film, they actually have no basis to compare prospects.
As many of the national analysts had never watched “T-2”, aka Lewis live before his Under Armour Future 50 appearance last January, they all had an opinion how good or average he was, and that remains the problem in today’s recruiting.
This is someone who has been an impact performer since he began at Miami Booker T. Washington and then led the Miami Northwestern Bulls to state championships.
What Lewis can do on the football field is dominate. He can make plays and alter any offense. He’s done it for two straight years, and will do it once again.
As he left Northwestern after the season and went to three-time defending 3A state champion Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna, he is returning to play for the Bulls in 2020.
He committed in the spring to attend the University of Tennessee.

LINEBACKERS ARE PLENTIFUL THIS COMING SEASON
In addition to the gifted Lewis, here are 5 more Class of 2021 Florida linebackers who will be very special:
[player_tooltip player_id="32909" first="Emile" last="Aime"], LB, 5-9, 210, Davie University School. Not the biggest football player you will find, but this is a playmaker who has led the Sharks the past two seasons in tackles. Big time student/athlete who also gets it done in the classroom. Coached by former Miami Dolphin Channing Crowder.

[player_tooltip player_id="32914" first="Jake" last="Chaney"], LB, 6-0 210, Lehigh. One of the big time playmakers who has made huge strides over the past two seasons for a program that has more than its share of talent. This is a hard worker, who has been this game for much of his young life. You know when he’s on the football field, his leadership takes over.

[player_tooltip player_id="32915" first="Austin" last="Dean"], LB, 6-2, 220, Tampa Berkeley Prep. Yet another solid linebacker prospect who was one of the top tacklers and leaders on his team a year ago. Solid playmaker who has speed and drops into coverage extremely well. Very athletic football talent, who will do some great things this coming season.

[player_tooltip player_id="32918" first="Isaiah" last="Finnie"], LB, 6-1, 200, Hollywood McArthur. Talk about one of the most overlooked linebacker prospects in Florida, just pop in his tape – if you can’t get out to see this quality athlete play live – and you will see what he has done the past two seasons. College coaches who have watched him play are impressed at what he does. Tremendous size and athleticism.

[player_tooltip player_id="32935" first="Deshawn" last="Troutman"], LB, 6-1, 205, Orlando Edgewater. This University of Miami commitment is indeed the real deal. Solid football player for a team that pulled the ultimate surprise and gave St. Thomas Aquinas all the Raiders could handle in the 7A state title game. Another major talent who has done it under the radar. Is one of those athletes that recruiting services and fan websites completely overlooked.
