Brennan Carlson (Aquin Catholic HS)- Good height and weight with a slender frame. Shows good foot quickness and burst off LOS in order to get off Press, along with possessing good speed to eat up cushions vs Off. Good burst and speed throughout stem to the top of routes. He shows the abililty to get inside or outside leverage off the ball, and maintain positioning through stem. Good hands, and displays good transition. Good YAC potential, maintains speed after the catch along with good agility and elusiveness in the open field. Good high pointing and body control, shows a willingness to track and go get the football in the air. He is a raw talent in terms of route diversity and precision. He’s a player that has all the tools, but needs a little more development of the finer points of the position.
Matthew Retherford (Carrollton HS)- Good height and weight with a slender frame. Solid speed allows him to get off Press. He likes to get outside leverage off LOS, and rely on speed down the field to create separation. Vs. Off, solid burst/acceleration allow him to be effective coming underneath the coverage. Shows better burst and acceleration through stem on deep routes opposed to the short to intermediate. Solid body control at the top of routes, in order to settle at the spot. Solid acceleration out of the top of routes to create separation. Good hands and transition in order to be effective after the catch. Shows a willingness to locate the football in the air and go get it. Solid short area YAC post catch, but isn’t going to be a home run threat when running underneath routes. Overall, he shows some promising tools, but will need to continue to develop his route running. He will also need to get more physical post catch in order to maximize his size and YAC potential.
Andrew Bowman (Aquin Catholic HS)- Solid height and good weight with a sturdy frame. Very good ability to vary releases to get off of Press. Shows a stutter step and go, a straight speed release, or he can us his foot quickness. Good speed to get on top of CB in Off. Maintains good speed throughout stem, and has very good COD at the top of routes. Displays the ability to break at full speed and maintain route integrity, and not drift. Very good ability to create separation and use body control to maintain positioning at the catch point. Good hands and transition, allowing for big play potential after the catch. Good speed and agility in the open field allow him to be a home run threat from any route. He is a good prospect who is ahead of where his route running development would be expected to be at this stage of his career. An under the radar guy who could really breakout in 2020.
Taylor Gaige (North Greene HS)- Solid height with adequate weight and a slender frame. Uses good speed to be effective getting separation off the snap against both Press and Off. Maintains speed through the stem and can generate solid separation with acceleration/burst. At this point in his career, he is strictly a speed guy who is in the game to be a vertical threat. He showed the ability to run a double move but will need to be a more complete route runner, along with developing his body by adding weight. If he does those things he could be a solid slot option.
