Johll, a Class of 2021 prospect, helped the Cougars finish 2019 strong, winning back-to-back games to conclude the campaign at 3-6 overall.
“I just want to play the game alongside my classmates. It’s been a long journey for all of us and this is my last year with them. There’s no better feeling than when we give it all for each other on that field.
“Playing for Manson has been a great experience so far. I have been honored to be Coached by our former head coach (Jeff) Anliker. He has taught me a lot about the sport and I would never be where I am without him. Being part of the team means that we’re family. I would not trade them for anyone else for I know when the time comes I can rely on them to do their job on the field and they will always have my back.”
As the lead back in the offense, Johll ran for a team-high 726 yards on 198 carries, scoring four touchdowns. He also hauled in 14 passes for 71 yards.
“From day one of quarantine, I have been lifting weights in my garage, shooting hoops, and going on runs,” he said. “Even with the COVID restrictions I must stay in shape for my team as they are my family and I can’t let them down.”
Along with making a handful of tackles and an interception on defense, Johll also returned five kickoffs for almost 25 yards per touch and fielded two punts.
The restrictions have also made recruiting unique for Johll.
“The recruiting process for me has been different I’d say from COVID,” Johll said. “I have had many online virtual tours rather than in-person. I have had a couple of coaches reach out to me such as Coach Mercer from Central College, and many others have been reaching out by email.”
Johll plans to play running back and free safety for Manson NW in the fall with the hope of being a college running back after.
“I have dedicated much time to bettering my skills as well as taking care of my body to be the best I can be for the upcoming season,” he said.
