From the preseason rankings through Week 5, Owatonna and Elk River were solidly perched at No. 1 and 2, respectively, in the Class AAAAA rankings.
Upset losses to rivals the last two weeks by both the Huskies and Elks, however, completely shook up the rankings in the second biggest class. Unbeaten Chaska is now the level's top team, followed by Robbinsdale Cooper and Northfield, which are also 7-0.
For the first time in 2017, the Class A rankings have a new look.
That level contains seven teams without a loss — tied with Class AAAA for the most among the seven classes of Minnesota high school football. One of those undefeated squads, Braham, ascends to the fifth spot this week, replacing Mayer Lutheran which fell by a single point to Blooming Prairie in Week 6.
